How much do international schools in Porto cost?

Porto's international sector is small and, by Lisbon standards, reasonable. The senior years cost roughly 12,000 euros less than the equivalent at a top Lisbon school, which for a family with two teenagers is the whole argument for living north.

Oporto British School, 2026/2027

On top: a 160 euro registration fee, a 475 euro acceptance fee, a refundable deposit of one term, an annual capital and maintenance charge of 745 euros and pupil insurance of 55 euros. Exams are billed separately at 920 euros per IB Diploma student and 165 euros per IGCSE subject. Lunches are 5.35 euros per meal in primary and 6.45 in secondary. There is a 25 percent discount on the third child.

CLIP, Oporto International School, 2026/2027

Total annual fees are 9,572 euros for Kindergarten 1 to 3, 10,580 for Grades 1 to 4, 13,000 for Grades 5 to 8, 14,702 for Grades 9 and 10 and 15,924 for Grades 11 and 12, each including a 500 euro annual registration fee. One-off costs are 150 euros pre-registration, 600 euros acceptance and a refundable 1,000 euro deposit. Siblings get 6 percent off for the second child and 15 percent from the third.

Planning around a thin market

Eight international schools serve greater Porto, against 38 around Lisbon, so a single full year group can mean no realistic alternative in the same curriculum. Ask admissions how many places exist in your child's exact year before you sign a lease in a particular suburb, and apply 6 to 12 months ahead as you would in Lisbon.
