How much do international schools in Lisbon cost in 2026/2027?

The International Schools Database counts 38 international schools in the Lisbon area, and the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive is wider than most families expect.

The fees on top of the fees

Tuition is not the whole invoice. St Julian's charges a 250 euro application fee, a 750 euro registration fee and a 5,000 euro capital levy, with 15 percent off the third child. TASIS Portugal charges 100 euros to apply (150 for Pre-K), a 750 euro re-enrolment fee each year, and either a 3,000 euro deposit credited to tuition for Pre-K or a one time 5,000 euro campus enhancement fee from Kindergarten up; its tuition includes lunch, two snacks, books, after school activities and field trips.

Ask every school for the all in first year figure: application, registration, levy, lunches, bus, uniform, trips and exam entries. At the schools with a capital levy, the first year is several thousand euros above the tuition line.

Where the savings are

The French and German schools sit far below the British and American ones and teach full curricula to university entrance, largely in French or German. If your children already speak the language, or are young enough to learn it, they are the obvious value choice.
