Where do I file my 90-day report if I live on Koh Tao?

Plenty of guides still say Koh Tao has no immigration office and that every 90-day report means a day on the Samui ferry. That stopped being true. Island Travel Koh Tao states that the island now has its own office and that 90-day reports can be done there, and BAANLYY's immigration guide, updated on 2 July 2026, lists the 90-day address report among the island services.

Where and when

The office sits on the road between Mae Haad and Chalok Baan Kao, near the police station. Island Travel Koh Tao gives its hours as Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:30, closed at weekends and on public holidays. Bring your passport and the TM30 receipt your landlord filed for your address; BAANLYY puts that receipt at the top of the list.

Your first report, then the laptop

The first report after an arrival has to be made in person, because the online system is not open to first time reporters, according to Thai Law Online. File that one at the island counter. Every report after it can go through tm47.immigration.go.th, in a window that opens 15 days before the due date and closes 7 days after. Reporting late costs a 2,000 THB fine, so put the date in your calendar the day you get the receipt.

BAANLYY lists two more routes: registered post, sent in advance of the due date, or an agent. On an island with its own counter, neither is worth much.

What still means a boat

The island office handles 90-day reports, the 30-day extension of a visa exempt or tourist stay and re-entry permits. One year extensions, the DTV extension, LTR matters and certificates of residence still go to the Samui office in Maenam.
