What is the 90-day report and how do I file it online?

It is not a visa renewal and it does not extend anything. The 90-day report tells immigration where you live, and it falls due each time you reach 90 unbroken days in Thailand on the same entry. DTV holders hit it routinely, because one DTV entry can run to 180 days. LTR holders report once a year on a different form instead.

The window

At an immigration office you can report from 15 days before the due date to 7 days after it. Online, ThaiLawOnline says submissions are only accepted in the 15 days before the due date, so the grace week after it is an office option, not a portal one. Aim for day 75 and the question never comes up.

Filing online, step by step

1. Make your first report in person at the immigration office covering your address. The portal does not accept first-time reporters.
2. For later reports, go to the official portal at tm47.immigration.go.th and enter your passport details, your latest arrival and your current address in Thailand.
3. Use the address your landlord registered on the TM30. The two are separate filings, and a mismatch is an easy reason for trouble.
4. Wait for approval, which ThaiLawOnline puts at usually one to three days. The Thaiger stresses that a pending status is not compliance: only an approved receipt is.
5. Save the approved receipt as a PDF. It carries your next due date, and an office will ask for your previous receipt at the next in-person report.

If you miss it

Reporting late of your own accord costs 2,000 THB. If the missed report is found when you are stopped, the published settlement figure is 4,000 THB, and the legal maximum is 5,000 THB. The fine is small next to the note it leaves in your file.
