Which Lisbon neighbourhood is best for families with kids?

Families in Lisbon trade off three things: space in the flat, a park or promenade within walking distance, and the school run. The three neighbourhoods below win on the first two.

Inside the city

Alvalade. Wide avenues, generous flats with real bedrooms, green space and a local market, on the green metro line. It is also one of the flattest parts of Lisbon, which you will appreciate with a pushchair.

Campo de Ourique. A neighbourhood that feels like a village: a covered market, quiet streets and small shops. It is not cheap: one bedroom flats alone ask about 1,500 to 1,700 euros (The London Thing, 2026), so a family flat sits well above that.

Parque das Nações. Modern buildings with lifts, parking and double glazing, a long riverside promenade and the Oceanarium on the doorstep. One bedroom flats ask about 1,300 to 1,700 euros. Some families love the calm; others find it lacks the character of old Lisbon.

If the school decides
