Can my spouse and kids come with me on a DTV?

The dependant route is written into the visa itself. The Royal Thai Embassy in London lists three DTV categories, and the third, DTV3, is for the spouse and children under 20 of a DTV holder.

How it works

Your application is the anchor. You are the one who shows remote work or another qualifying purpose, and the 500,000 THB in funds. Once your visa is approved, your spouse and each child file their own application as your dependants, with marriage or birth certificates as the core evidence. ThaiLawOnline notes two details families tend to learn late: each dependant pays the same 10,000 THB fee as you, and names that do not match exactly across passports and certificates cause refusals that were easy to avoid. The fee is not refunded if an application is rejected.

In London the fee is 300 GBP per visa, so check your own embassy's local price per person before you budget.

Police certificates for the family

Since 31 August 2026 every DTV applicant must file a police clearance certificate issued within six months of submission (three months at US missions). Erickson Immigration Group, reporting the London embassy's update, adds that dependants under 16 may submit the main applicant's certificate instead. Anyone aged 16 to 19 needs their own, so order it at the same time as yours.

Where everyone applies

The same rule applies to the whole family: an application is only accepted where the applicant is a national or a permanent resident. If your spouse holds a different passport, check which post will take their file.

What the visa does not solve

A DTV lets your children live in Thailand. It does not give them a school place, and a child who turns 20 leaves the dependant category and needs a route of their own.
